The Museum!

We had a great time exploring with our groups and then being archaeologists. We learned about biomes and climates around the world. Kids got to try on or hold artifacts from all over the world and then using clues figure out which biome the artifact belonged to and put it there. We had a great day!
Thanks to Sally's mom, Charlie's mom and Richie's mom for coming with us and sharing our adventures!

Persuasive Writing

Dear Farmer Brown,
We will do ANYTHING for a diving board, like:
1. we will take out the trash
2. we will give you tea, chocolate
3. we will make you the king
4. we will clean the farm
5. we will find you a wife
6. we will clean your house
7. we will be your maids and servants
Your believable friends,
The Ducks
(Gitalia)

We read a book called Click Clack Moo about ducks who want a diving board on the farm. We all wrote to the farmer to try and persuade him!

Math Workplaces

Every day in math we do workplaces after our lesson. Workplaces are games and activities that help kids practice the concepts we are learning. These workplaces all involve geometry.  This game is called architecture.

Author Visit at Davis!

Author and illustrator David Biedrzycki visited our school today. We met him in the library where he shared a brand new book idea with us about two bears who come out of their den a bit early in the spring and get into trouble in the town. We got to see his rough drawings and help choose the cover for the finished book. We also got to see how he uses the computer to draw and he drew a beetle family for us. On his website we can see a copy of the beetle he drew for us and even print it out! Visit his website using the link at the bottom of our blog. He is very funny! We had a great time!

Timeline Writing

At the end of each month we brainstorm important classroom events to include on our timeline.  Kids then work in pairs to complete this work,  on the computer, on a Neo, or on paper. Events kids wanted to add to our timeline for February included eagle observations,  Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day and many other topics. Look in your kids' home folders for copies of what they wrote!
